أناI فيin الحُبِّlove مُغرَمٌenamored مُستَنيلُseeking favors
كُلَّevery نَيلٍfavor أَنالُهُI obtain it ليfor me قَليلُlittle
In love I am enamored, seeking favors.
I am deeply in love, ever yearning,
Every favor I obtain is too little for me.
Yet every love I attain is so fleeting.
ليI have جُثمانُthe body of مَنone who يَظُنُّthinks صَحيحاًhealthy
وَفُؤاديand my heart مِنَfrom الغَرامِpassion عَليلُailing
I have the body of one who thinks himself healthy,
My body seems to others quite healthy,
Yet my heart is ailing with passion.
But my heart is made frail by its beating.
ليَI have ذِهنٌa mind مِثلَlike الحُسامِthe sword صَقيلُpolished
هُوَit مِنfrom كَثرَةِthe abundance of التَجَنّيunjust blame فَليلُnicked
I have a mind polished like a sword,
My mind was once sharp as a honed sword,
But it is nicked by so much unjust blame.
Now dulled by the wounds from its meeting.
