أَوجَهَO face البَدرِthe full moon يُشرِقُshines فيin الظَلامِthe darkness
أَوجَهَ البَدرِ يُشرِقُ في الظَلامِ
وَسِترand covering اللَهGod مُدَّwas spread عَلىover الأَنامhumankind
وَسِتر اللَه مُدَّ عَلى الأَنام
O face of the full moon, shining in the darkness,
The full moon rises shining in the dark
and God's covering, spread over humankind,
And God's veil is cast upon mankind
وَلَيثَand lion الغابthe forest إِقداماcourage وَبأساand might
وَلَيثَ الغاب إِقداما وَبأسا
وَرَبَّand lord الفَضلِbounty وَالنِعَمand blessings الجِسامِgreat
وَرَبَّ الفَضلِ وَالنِعَم الجِسامِ
and lion of the forest in courage and might,
The lion of the forest, brave and fierce
and lord of bounty and great blessings,
And Lord of bounty and great favors
عُبَيْدُكَyour humble servant مُولَعٌpassionately fond بِالصَيدof hunting قِدماfor a long time
عُبَيْدُكَ مُولَعٌ بِالصَيد قِدما
وَحُبُّand love الصَيدhunting مِنamong شِيَمِthe traits الكِرامِthe noble
وَحُبُّ الصَيد مِن شِيَمِ الكِرامِ
your humble servant has long been passionately fond of hunting,
Your servants are keen hunters from of old
and love of hunting is among the traits of the noble.
For hunting is a trait of noble men
فَإِذنُكso your permission فيهِfor it وَاِسلَمand remain safe لِلأعاديfor the foes
فَإِذنُك فيهِ وَاِسلَم لِلأعادي
تُديرُyou pass around عَلَيهِمُamong them كأسَthe cup الحِمامِdeath
تُديرُ عَلَيهِمُ كأسَ الحِمامِ
So grant your leave for it, and may you live on for your foes,
So permit them, and hand the foe to them
to pass among them the cup of death.
You pour on them the cup of annihilation
