أكثَرتِ هَجري غَيرَ أَنَّك رُبَّما

عَطَفَتكِ أَحيانا عَليّ أُمورُ

عَطَفَتكِ أَحيانا عَليّ أُمورُ

You have often forsaken me, though now and then

You distanced yourself from me more often, yet

circumstances have at times inclined you toward me.

Your kindness still graced me at times.

فَكأَنَّما زَمَنُ التَهاجُرِ بَينَنا

فَكأَنَّما زَمَنُ التَهاجُرِ بَينَنا

لَيلٌ وَساعاتُ الوِصال بُدورُ

لَيلٌ وَساعاتُ الوِصال بُدورُ

So it is as though the time of estrangement between us

So our estrangement seemed as

were night, and the hours of union full moons.

Night, with reunions but fleeting hours.
