أَتاكَhas come to you اللَيلُthe night مُعتَكِراًthick with darkness
أَتاكَ اللَيلُ مُعتَكِراً
يُناقِضُهُcounters it سَناradiance البَدرِof the full moon
يُناقِضُهُ سَنا البَدرِ
The night has come to you, thick with darkness;
The night comes to you, gloomy,
the full moon's radiance counters it.
Contradicted by the full moon's brightness.
ذَرِlet الساعاتِthe hours تَبسُطُهُspread it out
ذَرِ الساعاتِ تَبسُطُهُ
سَتَقبضُهُwill gather it in يَدُthe hand الفَجرِof dawn
سَتَقبضُهُ يَدُ الفَجرِ
Let the hours spread it out;
Let the hours spread it out,
the hand of dawn will gather it in.
The dawn will draw it in.
