تَوَهَّمتَyou imagined ياO مَغرورُdeluded one أَنَّكَthat you دَيِّنٌdevout
تَوَهَّمتَ يا مَغرورُ أَنَّكَ دَيِّنٌ
عَلَيَّbinding upon me يَمينُan oath اللَهِof God ماnot لَكَfor you دينُfaith
عَلَيَّ يَمينُ اللَهِ ما لَكَ دينُ
You imagined, O deluded one, that you are devout.
You vainly thought I owed a debt to you,
I swear by God: you have no faith.
By God, I owe you nothing that is true.
تَسيرُyou journey إِلىto البَيتِthe House الحَرامِsacred تَنَسُّكاًin pious devotion
تَسيرُ إِلى البَيتِ الحَرامِ تَنَسُّكاً
وَيَشكوكَand complains of you جارٌa neighbor بائِسٌdestitute وَخَدينُand a close friend
وَيَشكوكَ جارٌ بائِسٌ وَخَدينُ
You journey to the Sacred House in pious devotion,
You journey to the Sacred House in guise
while a destitute neighbor and a close friend complain of you.
Of piety, while neighbours starve and sigh.
