You consult your maiden about her own affairs,

yet forget to consult the previously married woman.

And you are a fool who saw his own like,

so Folly said to him, 'Find fault!'

O human body, what has befallen you,

though you were of a pure substance?

You became corrupt when four were gathered

within you, and you made me a laughingstock among the people.

So do not be alarmed when Death

cries to the envoys of wasting sickness, 'Onward with me!'

You become pure when you return

to the source, like pouring rain.

    فَأَعطِ عُفاتَكَ أَو خَيِّبِ

    And no wealth is yours, even if you possess it;

so give to your petitioners, or disappoint them.
