إِذاif حَرَقَburned الهِندِيُّthe Indian بِالنارِwith fire نَفسَهُhimself
إِذا حَرَقَ الهِندِيُّ بِالنارِ نَفسَهُ
فَلَمso did not يَبقَremain نَحضٌflesh لِلتُرابِfor the earth وَلاnor عَظمُbone
فَلَم يَبقَ نَحضٌ لِلتُرابِ وَلا عَظمُ
When the Indian has burned himself with fire,
If the Indian burns himself with fire,
When the Hindu burns himself with fire
and neither flesh nor bone remains for the earth,
so neither flesh nor bone remains for the earth,
No shred remains for dust, no bone or ash.
فَهَلthen, is? هُوَhe خاشٍfearful مِنof نَكيرٍNakir وَمُنكَرٍand Munkar
فَهَل هُوَ خاشٍ مِن نَكيرٍ وَمُنكَرٍ
وَضَغطَةِand the squeeze of قَبرٍa grave لاnot يَقومُstands firm لَهاagainst it نَظمُa structure
وَضَغطَةِ قَبرٍ لا يَقومُ لَها نَظمُ
does he then fear Nakīr and Munkar,
does he then fear Nakir and Munkar,
Does he then fear the Questioners' ire
and a grave's crushing pressure, which no frame can withstand?
and a grave’s crushing squeeze, which no structure can withstand?
Or squeezed inside a grave, its stony clash?
