Visiting Jerusalem has not been enjoined upon you.
Jerusalem, its shrine was not imposed upon you,
So prostrate yourself to your Lord while you live, hallowing Him.
So prostrate before your Lord in life as one devout.

Today I find myself asking about my tomorrow,
I have come to ask about my tomorrow,
Seeking news of its condition, probing closely.
Seeking news of it, prying and peering.
أَمّاas for اليَقينُcertainty فَلاthen no يَقينَcertainty وَإِنَّماand only

As for certainty, there is no certainty; rather,
Certainty is none, but only
My utmost striving is only to surmise and conjecture.
My best guess and surmise.
لاdo not تَرهَبَّنَّever fear مِنَfrom الظِباءِthe gazelles كَوادِساًsneezing
وَلَوand even if اِنتَشَقنَthey snuffed up مَعَwith الصَبَاحِthe morning الكُندُساkundus (a sneeze-inducing herb)
Never fear the gazelles when they sneeze,
Be not afraid of the thicket’s lurkers,
Even if they snuff up kundus at dawn.
Though the morning burst upon them in its freshness.
وَإِذاand if النَهارُthe day خَشيتَyou fear مِنهُfrom it غَوائِلاًperils

And if you fear perils from the day,
And if you fear the day will bring trials,
Then seek a pitch-dark night that will aid you.
The night will aid you with its darkness.
فَالجِنحُfor night's darkness أَخضَرُgreen كَالسُدوسِlike a green shawl تَخالُهُyou imagine it

For night's darkness is green as a shawl; you would think it
For wings are green like the lote-tree’s, their lining
Clad in fine silk from a green serpent.
Of green serpent covered in gleaming silks.
