يُؤثِرُ العَيشَ فَهُوَ كَالمَختولِ
The young man has seen the certain truth, yet
The youth has seen the truth, and yet
he prefers life, so he is like one deceived.
He prefers living, thus he is like a madman.

For the soldier’s wife, I see greater good
It is better for the wife of a ghost

Than her slain husband.

When the rope of contentment comes undone, she seeks
a living from her twisted thread.
Sustenance from her unraveled thread.

She was freed of her daughters and sons,
She is free from her daughters and sons,
so among women she is like a virgin.
Thus among women she is like an unmarried girl.
