أَوحىrevealed المَليكُthe Sovereign إِلىto مَنthose who فيupon بَسيطَتِهِhis earth
أَوحى المَليكُ إِلى مَن في بَسيطَتِهِ
مِنَamong البَريَّةِcreatures جَوَسواscour الأَرضَthe earth أَوor حَوسَواroam
مِنَ البَريَّةِ جَوَسوا الأَرضَ أَو حَوسَوا
The Sovereign revealed to those upon his earth,
The king revealed to those in his kingdom
among creatures: “Scour the earth, or roam it;
From the desert, traverse the land or settle
فَأَنتُمfor you are قَومُa people سوءٍevil لاno صَلاحَgoodness لَكُمfor you
فَأَنتُم قَومُ سوءٍ لا صَلاحَ لَكُم
مَسعودُكُمyour fortunate one عِندَin the eyes of أَهلِthe people of الأَرضِthe earth مَنحوسُill-starred
مَسعودُكُم عِندَ أَهلِ الأَرضِ مَنحوسُ
for you are an evil people, with no goodness in you;
You are evil people, with no righteousness
your fortunate one is ill-starred in the eyes of the earth’s people.”
Your prosperity among the people is cursed
