    The nights change dispositions.

How often they have made poison the drink of the fastidious!

The people went out for pure gold and obtained

it, while we spent the night—and who will secure even debased coins for us?

And does the young man not see the red gold,

with which the swords’ shoes are fashioned?

Iron has supremacy over all other precious

substances—the abasement of foes and the honor of guests.
