The astrologer and the physician both said:

“Bodies will not be resurrected.” I said, “Away with you both!”

    أَو صَحَّ قَولي فَالخُسارُ عَلَيكُما

    If what you both say is true, I am not at a loss;

or if what I say is true, the loss falls on you both.

I purified my garment for prayer, and before that

came purification; where, then, is purity in your two bodies?

And I remembered my Lord in my inmost thoughts, comforting

my heart thereby; so leave your two hearts desolate.

And I set out early in the two cool hours, seeking mercy

from Him, while you two remain untroubled in your cloaks.

If no benefits return to my hand through what

I do, is there any return to your two hands?

The pious man's cloak, though its weave is threadbare,

is better, in God's knowledge, than your two cloaks.
