    Sovereignty belongs to God; we are never free of hardship

    until souls and bodies part.

    And no living creature is seen that does not have

    enemies and enviers upon the earth.

    وَإِنَّما هُوَ إِتلافٌ وَإِفسادُ

    And I hope for no benefit from time;

    it is nothing but destruction and corruption.

    وَهَل أَمِنتُ عَليهُمُ إِن هُمُ سادوا

    Nor do I rejoice when my family remain obscure;

    and can I feel safe for them if they rise to power?

    And people are like hunting hounds: if they grow heedless

    of their task, they are goaded on by instinct.

    When the lesser ones are met by their greater ones,

    then, in evil, they are lion cubs and lions.
