She shed the blood of the wine jars, and they did not complain.
She shed the blood of the feeble, yet she did not complain,
Yet the shedding of peoples’ blood is lamented.
While the shedding of the blood of strong men is complained of.
أَعِفَّكَmade you refrain عَنfrom يَسارٍwealth تَبتَغيهِyou seek it
رِجالٌmen مِنamong بَنيthe sons of حَوّاءَEve عُفكُfools
You were kept from the wealth you seek
May you be excused for desiring an easy life,
by foolish men among the sons of Eve.
When men, sons of Eve, are lightweights.
لَفَكُّindeed, the jaw الريحِof the wind عَنabout أَمرٍa matter عَجيبٍwondrous
يُخَبَّرُis told أَنَّthat أَهلَthe inhabitants of الأَرضِthe earth لُفكُfools
Indeed, the wind’s jaw, concerning a wondrous matter,
The turning of the winds from a strange matter
is told that the inhabitants of the earth are fools.
Of which it is reported that the people of earth are lightweights,
إِذاwhen أَفِكواthey lie فَلاthen do not تَقبَلaccept وَمَيِّزand discern

When they lie, do not accept it; exercise discernment,
When they turn in disbelief, do not accept it, and distinguish,
for most of what they unveiled before you is falsehood.
For most of what they attributed to you is falsehood.
