العَقلُreason يُوَضِحُmakes clear لِلنُسfor devo- (word fragment)
العَقلُ يُوَضِحُ لِلنُس
كِ-tion (completes 'devotion') مِنهَجاًa path فَاِحذُso follow حَذوَهits lead
كِ مِنهَجاً فَاِحذُ حَذوَه
Reason makes clear, for devo-
The mind illuminates for mankind
tion, a path; so follow its lead.
A path, so take heed and follow it
وَلَيسَand is not يُظلَمُdarkened قَلبٌa heart
وَلَيسَ يُظلَمُ قَلبٌ
وَفيهِand within it لِلُّبِّof reason جُذوَهan ember
وَفيهِ لِلُّبِّ جُذوَه
Nor is a heart darkened
No heart is wronged
while within it is an ember of reason.
That nurtures true love within it
وَفاتَand has outstripped رَكضُthe gallop المَناياdeaths
وَفاتَ رَكضُ المَنايا
رَكضَthe gallop القَضيبِal-Qaḍīb (the steed) وَبَذوَهand its outpacing
رَكضَ القَضيبِ وَبَذوَه
And the gallop of deaths has outstripped
The race of death has moved on
al-Qaḍīb's gallop and its swiftness.
As have youth and its vigour
