Praise be to God: I have come to be amid deep waters,
Praise be to Allah, though I've awoken mid-storm
struggling against an ocean of time's sorrows.
Bearing the burdens of time like a lexicon's pages

Some groups said: Your God did not send
They said, "Your god sent no Messiah to the wilds
to humankind its Jesus or Moses.
Nor Moses with his staff held aloft in miracles."
وَإِنَّماand merely جَعَلواthey made لِلقَومِfor the people مَأَكَلَةًa source of livelihood

And they merely created a source of livelihood for the people,
Yet they made of the people a shared repast,
and established a religious law for all humankind.
And for all mankind crafted a binding law.
وَلَوand if قَدَرتُI had the power لَعاقَبتُI would punish الَّذينَthose who طَغواtransgressed
حَتّىuntil يَعودَbecomes حَليفُthe ally الغَيِّof error مَرموساburied
And if I had the power, I would punish those who transgressed,
If I'd the power, I would punish those grown tyrant
until the ally of error lay buried.
Till the robe of wrongdoing lay trampled and torn.
