Perhaps people in prayer niches have instilled fear

with verses, as people in drinking places have brought delight.

If one who performs prayer seeks deceit through it,

then one who deliberately abandons it is nearer to God.

So let no one boast with pride who returns

to the substance of earthenware, beaten into shape for use.

Perhaps a vessel will one day be made from him,

so whoever wishes may eat from it and drink.

And he is carried from one land to another, unaware.

So alas for him—after decay, he goes abroad.
