    فَلَيسَ فيهِ مِن بَنيهِ حَليم

    Our father, Time, has a streak of rashness;

    so none among his sons is forbearing.

    Man has ridden nothing but an oppressor

    who races toward strife as a male ostrich runs.

    فَالقَومُ مِنها في عَذابٍ أَليم

    Their world is fire, without a paradise;

    so the people suffer painful torment from it.

    Touching the Corner, donning

    chain mail—each of them deserves blame.

    My Lord, when shall I depart from my world?

    For You are well acquainted with people, all-knowing.

    So the master is the slave, and the wealthy the

    poor, and the unharmed is like the snake-bitten.

    Pharaoh gained no blessing in it,

    nor was life serene for Moses, the one God spoke to.
