O my mind, long has it been since you were polished,

And people surged in gossip and chatter.

Death will soon set me free,

For I am in bondage and confinement.

As though those who share our experience were grazing livestock,

Delighting in pasture and grazing on herbs.

When my soul departs from my limbs,

The body will know nothing of that departure.

I shall go, never to return—and how could I return,

When my departure was that of one filled with aversion?

There are matters that perplex created beings,

As though reason were hobbled by them.
