أَباO father of القَدَرِfate المُتاحِallotted رَدينُRadīn جِنٌّjinn
أَبا القَدَرِ المُتاحِ رَدينُ جِنٌّ
تَسمَعُthey listen غَيرَnot هائِبَةِfearing الرُجومِthe missiles
تَسمَعُ غَيرَ هائِبَةِ الرُجومِ
O father of allotted fate, Radīn is a host of jinn,
O Time's grantor, a demon answers my call
who listen, unafraid of the missiles,
It hears the din of spears beyond the fray
وَتَعلَمُand they know أَنَّthat ماwhat لَمnot يُنضَbe worn down صَعبٌunyielding
وَتَعلَمُ أَنَّ ما لَم يُنضَ صَعبٌ
فَماso not تَخشىthey fear المَنِيَّةَdeath فيin الهُجومِthe charge
فَما تَخشى المَنِيَّةَ في الهُجومِ
and know that what has not been worn down is unyielding,
And knows that which is unyielding is hard
so they fear no death in the charge.
So it fears not death amid the affray
بِإِذنِby the permission of اللَهِGod يَنفُذُtakes effect كُلُّevery أَمرٍdecree
بِإِذنِ اللَهِ يَنفُذُ كُلُّ أَمرٍ
فَنَهنِهso restrain فَيضَthe flood of أَدمُعِكَyour tears السُجومِstreaming
فَنَهنِه فَيضَ أَدمُعِكَ السُجومِ
By God's leave, every decree takes effect.
By God's will each matter comes to pass
So stem the flood of your streaming tears.
So gently weep and let tears stream away
يَجوزُis possible بِحُكمِهِby His decree مَوتُthe death of الثُرِّياthe Pleiades
يَجوزُ بِحُكمِهِ مَوتُ الثُرِّيا
وَأَنand that تَبقىremain السَماءُthe sky بِلاwithout نُجومِstars
وَأَن تَبقى السَماءُ بِلا نُجومِ
By His decree, the Pleiades may die,
By His decree die the wealthy and thrive
and the sky may remain without stars.
And skies are emptied of every star's ray
وَكَمand how often وَجَمfell gloomily silent الفَتىthe young man مِنfrom بَعدِafter ضِحكٍlaughter
وَكَم وَجَم الفَتى مِن بَعدِ ضِحكٍ
وَأُضحِكَand was made to laugh بَعدَafter إِفراطِexcess of الوُجومِgloomy silence
وَأُضحِكَ بَعدَ إِفراطِ الوُجومِ
And how often a young man has fallen gloomily silent after laughter,
After laughter, how often does sorrow come
and been made to laugh after excessive gloom.
And after gloom's excess, joy finds its way
