    وَإِنَّما جُلَّ مَن تَرى شَبَهُ

    No gold remains among mankind;

    and most of those you see are merely brass.

    Leave them—for how often their necks have been severed,

    cut clean off, yet they neither felt it nor cared.

    They have been mixed with hypocrisy, and so blended with it,

    and became indistinct to the eye and hard to tell apart.

    And their words, when laid bare, contain no

    truths; rather, all of them are specious claims.

    Their ʿĀd has passed away, and its Jurhum too,

    yet they remain as I knew them: they have not awakened.
