دُموعي لا تُجيبُ عَلى الرَزايا

دُموعي لا تُجيبُ عَلى الرَزايا

وَلَولا ذاكَ ما فَتِأَت سُجوما

وَلَولا ذاكَ ما فَتِأَت سُجوما

My tears do not respond to calamities;

My tears do not respond to misfortunes,

and were it not for that, they would never cease flowing.

And if not for that, they would gush in streams.

رِضاً بِقَضاءِ رَبِّكَ فَهوَ حَتمٌ

رِضاً بِقَضاءِ رَبِّكَ فَهوَ حَتمٌ

وَلا تُظهِر لِحادِثَةٍ وُجوما

وَلا تُظهِر لِحادِثَةٍ وُجوما

Be content with your Lord’s decree, for it is inevitable,

Be content with the decree of your Lord, for it is decisive,

and show no dismay at a misfortune.

And do not let any incident make you frown.

وَلُم زُحَلاً أَوِ المِرّيخَ فيها

وَلُم زُحَلاً أَوِ المِرّيخَ فيها

وَلا تَلُمِ الَّذي خَلَقَ النُجوما

وَلا تَلُمِ الَّذي خَلَقَ النُجوما

And blame Saturn or Mars for it,

Do not blame Venus or Mars for it,

but do not blame the One who created the stars.

Nor blame the One who created the stars.

وَلَستُ أَقولُ إِنَّ الشُهبَ يَوماً

وَلَستُ أَقولُ إِنَّ الشُهبَ يَوماً

لِبَعثِ مُحَمَّدٍ جُعِلَت رُجوما

لِبَعثِ مُحَمَّدٍ جُعِلَت رُجوما

And I do not say that shooting stars were ever

I do not say that the meteors one day

made projectiles for Muhammad’s mission.

Were created as missiles for Muhammad’s mission.

فَأَمسِك غَربَ فيكَ وَلا تَعَوَّد

فَأَمسِك غَربَ فيكَ وَلا تَعَوَّد

عَلى القَولِ الجَراءَةَ وَالهُجوما

عَلى القَولِ الجَراءَةَ وَالهُجوما

So curb the sharpness of your mouth, and do not make a habit

Restrain your bitterness within you and do not get accustomed

of audacity and attack in speech.

To harsh and offensive speech.
