عَنسِيَmy sturdy she-camel فيin الدُنِّياthe world سِوىunlike الراهيthe one at ease
طَلَّقتُهاI divorced her تَطليقَa divorcing إِكراهِcompulsion
My she-camel in this world is unlike that of one at ease.
I care for nothing in this world but her who delights me,
I divorced her under compulsion.
Though I divorced her in recalcitrance forced on me.
وَالجَدُّand fortune أَبراهاfitted her with a nose-ring لِمَنfor whoever راضَهاtamed her
فَاِنهَضso rise إِلىto عَنسكَyour sturdy she-camel إِبراهِIbrahim (shortened vocative)
And fortune fitted her with a nose-ring for whoever tamed her.
But in truth she is one who would bear any wrong that pleased her,
So rise to your she-camel, Ibrahim.
So arise and return to the one who adorns you, Ibrahim.
وَإِنَّماand only نَحنُwe أَسارىcaptives بِهاin her
وَسَوفَand will توديbring ruin بِالأَساريupon the captives هيshe
And we are but captives in her,
For we are but captives of this world,
And she herself will bring the captives to ruin.
And captives shall be led by it wherever it will.
