    Men have boasted, and in ignorance they boast.

    There is no disgrace in devotion, even if the frivolous dismiss it.

    وَالآمِرونَ بِسوءِ الفِعلِ ناهونا

    Those who forbid you a good deed are those who command you to do it;

    And those who enjoin evil deeds are those who forbid them.

    I thought the stars were calling, "Rise in separate bands!"

    Or that Suha said, "The people of the earth are heedless."

    The sun has cooked for you what frees a man of ease

    From needing cooks of his own upon the earth.

    Offspring of humankind, do not vaunt yourselves, for you

    Are reckoned tiny ants, or resemble ants.

    وَأَهوَنُ الخَطبِ أَنَّ القَومَ واهونا

    Events refuse to shorten time by ten thousand;

    And the least of the troubles is that the people are feeble.
