تَحُسُّdestroys; perhaps miswritten 'ill fortune' الحَياةِof life عَلىover الأَحياءِthe living مُشتَمِلٌencompassing
وَساكِنوand the dwellers of الأَرضِthe earth مِنfrom لُؤمٍbaseness بِلاwithout كَرَمِnobility
Life's [ill fortune?] encompasses the living.
Life feels burdensome upon the living
And the earth's dwellers are base, without nobility.
And earth's inhabitants are devoid of generosity
فَالبُعدُso the long reach للعَيشِof life أَدّانيbrought me near إِلىto تَلَفٍdestruction
وَلِلشَبيبَةِand for youth قادَتنيit led me إِلىto الهَرَمِdecrepitude
So life's long reach brought me near to destruction,
So distance has led me to decay
And as for youth, it led me to decrepitude.
And youth has led me to old age
لاdo not يُعجِبَنَّكَimpress you (emphatic) إِقبالٌgood fortune يُريكَshows you سَناًradiance
إِنَّindeed الخُمودَextinction لَعَمريby my life غايَةُthe end of الضَرَمِthe blaze
Let no good fortune that shows you radiance impress you.
You are not pleased by a prosperity that shows you white hair
For, by my life, extinction is the end of flame.
For stillness is truly the epitome of harm
وَهيَand it السَعادَةُgood fortune لِلحِجرَينِfor the two Hijrs مائِزَةٌdistinguishing

And it is good fortune that sets the two Hijrs apart:
And it is happiness for the two sanctuary stones - defining
Thamud's abode, and the Hijr of the House and Sanctuary.
The melody of Thamud and the Black Stone and the Sacred Mosque
لاno فَرقَdifference بَينَbetween بَنيthe sons of فِهرٍFihr وَغَيرِهِمِand others besides them
فيin دَولَةٍa turn of fortune وَشُهورُand the months of الحِلِّnon-sacred time كَالحَرَمِlike sacred time
There is no difference between Fihr's sons and others
There is no difference between the Banu Fihr and others
In a turn of fortune; and the non-sacred months are like the sacred ones.
In a state whose sacred months are like the inviolable

These valley-bends have blossomed, not grown weary
These bodies were created not out of boredom
Of visitors; rather, they have grown fragrant with thorn-tree blossoms.
With visitors, but they withdrew from blame
