لَمdid not يَسقِكُمgive you rain رَبُّكُمyour Lord عَنbecause of حُسنِthe goodness of فِعلِكُمُyour conduct

دَليلُthe proof of ذَلِكَthat أَنَّthat الحُرَّthe noble man أَعوَزَهُwas lacking to him
قوتٌfood وَأَنَّand that سِواهُsomeone other than him فازَsucceeded بِالمالِwith wealth

Food, while someone else has gained wealth.

How many a man staying in his dwellings has been favored with sustenance,
While a traveler with horses and camels has been deprived of it!
فَأَمِّلواso place your hopes in اللَهَGod وَاِرجواand hope for مِنهُfrom Him عاقِبَةًan outcome

So place your hopes in God, and hope for a good outcome from Him,
For your worldly life is not worthy of hope.
دِنتُمyou professed belief بِأَنthat سَيُجازيكُمwill recompense you إِلَهُكُمُyour God
فَماso why لِأَفعالِكُمwith your deeds أَفعالُdeeds of إِهمالِneglect
You have professed belief that your God will recompense you;
Then why are your deeds acts of neglect?
