غَدَتit has become دارَthe abode of الشُرورِevils وَنَحنُand we فيهاwithin it
غَدَت دارَ الشُرورِ وَنَحنُ فيها
فَمَنso who يَهديguides إِلىto دارِthe abode of السُرورِjoy
فَمَن يَهدي إِلى دارِ السُرورِ
It has become the abode of evils, while we are within it.
Who, then, will guide us to the abode of joy?
لَقَدindeed بُدِّلتُI have been changed حالاًa state بَعدَafter حالٍa state
لَقَد بُدِّلتُ حالاً بَعدَ حالٍ
فَصِرتُso I passed إِلىto الغُرورِdelusion مِنَfrom الغُرورِdelusion
فَصِرتُ إِلى الغُرورِ مِنَ الغُرورِ
Indeed, I have been changed from one state to another,
and so have passed from delusion to delusion.
فَصَبراًso be patient إِنif أَمَرَّturns bitter عَلَيكَfor you عَيشٌlife
فَصَبراً إِن أَمَرَّ عَلَيكَ عَيشٌ
فَإِنَّكَfor indeed you فيin المَقامِstaying عَلىin the act of المُرورِpassing through
فَإِنَّكَ في المَقامِ عَلى المُرورِ
So be patient if life turns bitter for you,
for even as you stay, you are passing through.
