Indeed, a people's minds have rusted; is there for them

Any polish? And the keen sword needs polishing.

How often the world has deceived her sons! And I am grieved

By falsehood among people in accounts and their transmission.

I shall follow whoever calls to goodness, striving earnestly,

And depart from her, with no guide but my reason.

When she prepares me to depart, never to return,

I shall leave her the burden she made me bear.

Altered in her states, sapping strength,

Her shackles firmly fastened, her hobbles tightly secured.

The winds followed one another over her in summer's heat, after

The spears had grappled over her in the season of green growth.

And whoever judges things by reason

Holds equal those he loves and those he hates.
