If you wish for ease and comfort,
If you wish for ease and tranquility
Then live unnoticed among humankind.
Then live in the wilderness, inactive
وَلاand not يُعقَدbe bound لَكُمfor you أَمَلٌhope بِخَلقٍto any creature

And let no hope of yours be bound to any creature,
And have no hope in people's nature
And spend your nights hoping in the Protector.
But place your hope in the Almighty
وَرِفقاًand gentleness بِالأَصاغِرِwith the little ones كَيso that يَقولواthey may say
غَدَوناwe have become بِالجَميلِwith kindness مُعامِليناdealing
And be gentle with the little ones, so they may say:
And be kind to the young so they say
"We have become kind in our dealings."
We were treated with goodness
فَأَطفالُfor the children الأَكابِرِof the great إِنif يُوَقّواare kept safe
يُرَواwill be seen يَوماًone day رِجالاًmen كامِليناfully grown
For the children of the great, if kept safe,
For if the children of dignitaries are taught well
Will one day be seen as fully grown men,
One day they will become perfect men
وَنودواand they were called upon فيduring إِمارَتِهِمtheir rule فَجَفّواso they grew harsh

And, called upon during their rule, will grow harsh,
They aspired to rule but were unripe
And become bearers of heavy burdens.
And returned to the burdens bearers
وَلاand do not تُبدواshow عَداوَتَكُمyour enmity لِقَومٍtoward people

And do not show your enmity toward people
Do not show your enmity to a people
Who came to you in life with courtesy.
Who befriended you in life

And do not be content to be called tale-bearers,
Do not settle for being called companions
Nor go about spreading tales against your kin.
And fraternize with relatives lazily

بِأَيسَرِwith the slightest نَظرَةٍglance مُتَحامِليناshowing bias
And judges have indeed acted unjustly when they signaled
For judges have become biased
With the slightest glance, showing partiality.
With just a glance, unjust

Perhaps peoples on earth were requited
Perhaps people on earth reap
For what they used to do long ago.
What they were sowing long ago
