إِذاif ماan emphatic particle رَأَيتُمyou (plural) see عُصبَةًa band هَجَرِيَّةًof Hajar
إِذا ما رَأَيتُم عُصبَةً هَجَرِيَّةً
فَمِنthen among رَأيِهاits views لِلناسِfor people هَجرُabandonment المَساجِدِthe mosques
فَمِن رَأيِها لِلناسِ هَجرُ المَساجِدِ
If you see a band from Hajar,
Whenever you see a modernist group
then one of its views is that people should abandon the mosques.
Whose opinion leads people away from mosques
وَلِلدَهرِand time has سُرٌّa secret مُرقِدٌputting to sleep كُلَّevery ساهِرٍwakeful person
وَلِلدَهرِ سُرٌّ مُرقِدٌ كُلَّ ساهِرٍ
عَلىin غِرَّةٍheedlessness أَوor موقِظٌawakening كُلَّevery هاجِدِsleeper
عَلى غِرَّةٍ أَو موقِظٌ كُلَّ هاجِدِ
And time has a secret that puts every wakeful soul to sleep,
And for the times there is a sleeping secret in every wakeful person
unawares, or awakens every sleeper.
Or a waker in every kneeling worshipper
يَقولونَthey say تَّأثيرُthe influence القِرانِthe planetary conjunction مُغَيَّرٌaltering
يَقولونَ تَّأثيرُ القِرانِ مُغَيَّرٌ
مِنَfrom الدَينِreligion آثارَthe traces السُراةَthe nobles الأَماجِدِthe illustrious
مِنَ الدَينِ آثارَ السُراةَ الأَماجِدِ
They say the influence of the planetary conjunction alters
They say the Quran's influence has changed
the traces of the illustrious nobles in religion.
Erased the traces of devout ancestors' glories
مَتّىwhenever يَنزِلِdescends الأَمرُthe decree السَماويُّheavenly لاnot يُفِدavails
مَتّى يَنزِلِ الأَمرُ السَماويُّ لا يُفِد
سِوىexcept شَبَحٍa mere shape رُمحُthe spear الكَميّthe armored warrior المَناجِدِthe valiant
سِوى شَبَحٍ رُمحُ الكَميّ المَناجِدِ
When the heavenly decree descends, nothing is gained
Whenever a divine order descends, it does not benefit
from the valiant warrior's spear but a mere shape.
Other than the ghost, the spear of the short Cambyses wounded the kneeling ones
وَإِنand even if لَحِقَbefalls الإِسلامَIslam خَطبٌa calamity يُغَضُّهُdiminishes it
وَإِن لَحِقَ الإِسلامَ خَطبٌ يُغَضُّهُ
فَماthen not وَجَدَتhas found مَثَلاًan equal لَهُto it نَفسُthe soul واجِدِa resentful person
فَما وَجَدَت مَثَلاً لَهُ نَفسُ واجِدِ
And even if a calamity befalls Islam, diminishing it,
And if some distress befalls Islam
no resentful soul has found its equal.
No soul has found a match for it, not even the most ardent lover
إِذاwhen عَظَّمواthey exalt كَيوانَSaturn عَظَّمتُI exalt واحِداًOne
إِذا عَظَّموا كَيوانَ عَظَّمتُ واحِداً
يَكونُwill be لَهُto Him كَيوانُSaturn أَوَّلَthe first ساجِدِone who prostrates
يَكونُ لَهُ كَيوانُ أَوَّلَ ساجِدِ
When they exalt Saturn, I exalt the One
When they glorify a Mars, I glorify the One
before whom Saturn will be the first to prostrate.
For whom Mars would be the first to kneel in prayer
