إِنif كُنتِyou are ياO وَرقاءُgray dove مَهدِيَّةًrightly guided
فَلاthen do not تُبَنّيbuild الوَكرَthe nest لِلأَفرُخِfor the fledglings
If you are rightly guided, O gray dove,
If you are like a soft-skinned doe
Then do not build a nest for fledglings.
Then do not build a den for your fawns
وَلاand do not تَكونيbe مِثلَlike إِنسِيَّةٍa human woman
مَتىwhenever يَنبُهاbefalls her حادِثٌa misfortune تَصرُخِshe cries out
And do not be like a human woman,
And be not like a forgetful woman
Who cries out whenever a misfortune befalls her.
Who screams when startled by mishaps
وَاِنفَرِديand dwell alone فيin بَلَدٍa land عازِبٍremote

And dwell alone in a remote land,
But wander alone in a remote land
Away from us, and live with a mind at ease.
Away from us, and live at ease, tranquil and serene
