وَساعَدَهُand aided him بِدَمعَتِهِwith his tear أَذارُAdhar
If, in a year, Tishrin weeps,
When a year weeps, October weeps in it
And Adhar aids him with his tear,
And April aids it with its tears
فَروديthen roam حَيثُwherever شِئتِyou wished بِغَيرِwithout أَزلٍhardship
وَلَيسَand there is no عَلَيكِupon you مِنof جَدبٍdrought حِذارُfear
Then roam wherever you wish, without hardship,
So wander wherever you wish without losing your way
And you need have no fear of drought.
And have no fear of barrenness
فَذاكَfor that أَوانُthe season تَخضَرُّgrow green الرَوابيthe hills
لِناظِرِهاto their beholder وَتَبيَضُّand turn white الوِذارُthe cuts of meat
For that is the season when the hills grow green
For that is when the meadows turn green
To their beholder, and the cuts of meat turn white.
To the eyes of the beholder, and the thorn-apples turn white
أَيُلقىis ... offered? العُذرُthe excuse أَمor أَبَتِrefused الخَطاياthe sins
قَديماًlong ago أَنthat يَكونَthere be لَكِfor you اِعتِذارُan excuse
Is an excuse offered, or did sins refuse
Are excuses accepted or have sins long refused
Long ago to let you have an excuse?
To permit you an apology
