Sol 6

  1. إِذا وَهَبَ اللَهُ لي نِعمَةً

    أَفَدتُ المَساكينَ مِمّا وَهَب

    If God grants me a blessing,

    I share with the poor what He has given.

  2. جَعَلتُ لَهُم عُشرَ سَقيِ الغَمامِ

    وَأَعطَيتُهُم رُبعَ عُشرِ الذَهَب

    I allot them a tenth of what the clouds have watered,

    and give them a quarter of a tenth of the gold.

  3. وَإِلّا فَلَيسَ عَلى قادِحٍ

    إِذا ما كَبا الزَندُ دَفعُ اللَهَب

    Otherwise, one who strikes a fire cannot be expected

    to bring forth flame when the firestick fails.

  4. وَلَو أُرسِلَت في المَهَبِّ الجَنوب

    لَما عَجَزَت عَن سُلوكِ المَهَبّ

    And if the south wind were sent into the wind’s course,

    it would not fail to pass along that course.
