إِنif عَذُبَis sweet المَينُfalsehood بِأَفواهِكُمin your mouths
فَإِنَّthen indeed صِدقيmy truthfulness بِفَميin my mouth أَعذَبُsweeter

طَلَبتُI sought لِلعالَمِfor the world تَهذيبَهُمtheir refinement
وَالناسُand people ماnot صُفّواwere purified وَلاnor هُذِّبواwere refined

فَأَعوَزَbut was lacking المُخبِرُthe informant لاnot يَكذِبُlies

but a truthful informant was nowhere to be found.
وَأَكثَرواand they multiplied الدَعوىclaims بِلاwithout حُجَّةٍproof
كُلٌّeach one إِلىtoward حَيِّزِهِhis sphere يَجذبُdraws
And they made many claims without proof;
