إِن غاضَ بَحرٌ مُدَّةً

إِن غاضَ بَحرٌ مُدَّةً

فَلَطالَما غَدَرَ الغَديرُ

فَلَطالَما غَدَرَ الغَديرُ

If a sea recedes for a time,

If the sea recedes for a while

for many a time has the pool proved treacherous.

The tide has often betrayed the estuary

فَلَكٌ يَدورُ بِحِكمَةٍ

فَلَكٌ يَدورُ بِحِكمَةٍ

وَلَهُ بِلا رَيبٍ مُديرُ

وَلَهُ بِلا رَيبٍ مُديرُ

A celestial sphere revolves with wisdom,

There is a planet that revolves wisely

and without doubt it has a director.

And it certainly has a guide

إِن مَنَّ مالِكُنا بِما

إِن مَنَّ مالِكُنا بِما

نَهوى فَمالِكُنا قَديرُ

نَهوى فَمالِكُنا قَديرُ

If our Master favors us with what

If our Master has bestowed us with what

we desire, then our Master is all-powerful;

We desire, then our Master is Able

أَو لا فَعالَمُ آدَمٍ

أَو لا فَعالَمُ آدَمٍ

بِإِهانَةِ المَولى جَديرُ

بِإِهانَةِ المَولى جَديرُ

or if not, then Adam's world

Or else the world of humans

deserves humiliation at the Lord's hands.

Deserves the humiliation of the Master
