I see reason as the wise man's mirror; whoever has

friends for his mirrors speaks truth and lies.

Should I fear God's punishment, when God is just,

and I have lived the life of the oppressed and tormented?

Yes, such are the allotted provisions, and man is ignorant:

he refines what in his worldly life has not been refined.

For the sun's cords are not firmly fixed

for fastening saddles, nor are they handholds for those who pull.
