I see myself, in life's fetters, burdened with
I see myself compelled in the shackles of life

إِذاif كُنتَyou are فيin دارِthe abode of الشَقاءِmisery مُصَلِيّاًpraying; also, running second
إِذا كُنتَ في دارِ الشَقاءِ مُصَلِيّاً
فَإِنَّكَthen surely you are فيin دارِthe abode of لسَعادَةِhappiness سابِقُone who comes first
فَإِنَّكَ في دارِ لسَعادَةِ سابِقُ
If, in the abode of misery, you are one who prays,
If you are praying in the abode of misery

فَذَلِكَ عَبدٌ مِن يَدِ الدَهرِ آبِقُ
If the free man does not rise to perform his obligatory prayer,
If the free man does not undertake his ordained prayers
then he is a slave fleeing from the hand of Time.
He is a slave escaped from the hands of fate
