أَرانيI see myself فيin الثَلاثَةِthe three مِنof سُجونيmy prisons
أَراني في الثَلاثَةِ مِن سُجوني
فَلاso do not تَسأَلask عَنِabout الخَبَرِthe news النَبيثِlaid bare
فَلا تَسأَل عَنِ الخَبَرِ النَبيثِ
I find myself in three of my prisons;
I see myself in the third of my prisons
So do not ask about the tale laid bare:
So ask not for the woeful news
لِفَقدِيَfor my loss of ناظِريmy eyes وَلُزومِand keeping to بَيتيmy home
لِفَقدِيَ ناظِري وَلُزومِ بَيتي
وَكَونِand the being of النَفسِthe soul فيin الجَسَدِthe body الخَبيثِvile
وَكَونِ النَفسِ في الجَسَدِ الخَبيثِ
For my loss of sight and my keeping to my home,
Of losing my companion and staying home
And the soul's being in the vile body.
With a wretched soul in a wretched body
