I brushed dust off myself, though it is kin to me;
And that is counted as a young man's severing of kinship ties.
ياO هونَlightness ماwhat أَوعَدَthreatened اللَهُGod العِبادَthe servants بِهِwith it

How light is what God has threatened His servants with,
If my body turns to charcoal when burned!
وَإِنَّماbut rather هُوَit تَخليدٌperpetuation بِلاwithout أَمَدٍan end
تَمضيpass الدُهورُthe ages وَصاليwhile the one burning in النارِthe fire ماnot رُحِماis shown mercy
But it is an eternity without end:
The ages pass, while the one burning in the fire is never shown mercy.
