أَلَم يَرَ أَفعالَكَ الشارِقُ
وَكَوكَبُand the star لَيلَتِكَof your night الطارِقُthe night-visitor
وَكَوكَبُ لَيلَتِكَ الطارِقُ
Has the rising sun not seen your deeds,
And the star that visits your night?
تَخونُyou betray أَمينَكَyour trusted man دينارُهُhis dinar
تَخونُ أَمينَكَ دينارُهُ
وَفيand for رُبعِهِa quarter of it يُقطَعُsuffers amputation السارِقُthe thief
وَفي رُبعِهِ يُقطَعُ السارِقُ
You cheat your trusted man out of his dinar,
Yet for a quarter of it, the thief has his hand cut off.
