Sufis were not content to have their name traced to wool,
Sufis were not content to have their name traced to wool,

Blessed be God! An age whose very stuffing is lies—
Blessed be God! An age stuffed with lies!
for every person among us is falsely described.
So each of us is described contrary to the truth.

Whenever the branch bears fruit, a hand reaches toward it
If the branch bears fruit and a hand reaches toward it,
to pluck it unjustly—if only the branch were broken!
To harvest its fruit unjustly—would that the branch were snapped!
