People have spoken at length, yet nothing is gained

but a slip by those who speak at length on it.

How strange the Messiah’s lot among people

who ascribed him to God as his father!

The Christians handed him over to the Jews,

and acknowledged that they crucified him.

The resolute, discerning man pities the child

    when his peers beat him.

And if what they say about Jesus

is true, then where was his father?

How did he leave his child to the enemies?

Or do they suppose they overpowered him?

And whenever you question adherents of a religion,

they alter by analogy what they had established.

They do not base their faith on reason, but

on falsehoods of gilded speech they have falsified.
