Who will defend me against a form that has already wrought havoc,

and against its burier’s hand as it scattered earth,

and against a soul that craved delicious food,

then, when it attained its desire, grew nauseated,

and contended with its adversary before a judge,

and without any right—by my life!—knelt down?

So do not pity it, for it

did not pity your body in its weakness.
