My reason forbade me many things,
yet my nature instinctively draws me toward them.
وَمِمّاand among what أَدامَprolonged الرُزءَthe calamity تَكذيبُdisbelieving صادِقٍa truthful person
عَلىdespite خُبرَةٍknowledge مِنّاon our part وَتَصديقُand believing كاذِبِa liar
And among what has prolonged calamity is disbelieving a truthful person,
though we know better, and believing a liar.
