لَحاكِmay He curse you اللَهُGod ياO دُنياworld خَلوباًbeguiling
فَأَنتِfor you are الغادَةُthe graceful maiden البِكرُthe virgin العَجوزُthe old woman
May God curse you, O beguiling world!
For you are the graceful maiden, the virgin, the crone.
وَجَدناكِwe have found you الطَريقَthe road إِلىto المَناياdeath
وَقَدand indeed طالَhas grown long المَدىthe distance فَمَتىso when نَجوزُshall we cross
We have found you the road to death,
And the distance has grown long—so when shall we cross?
سَئِمناwe have grown weary مِنof أَذاكِyour harm فَنَجَّزيناso make an end of us
فَإِنَّfor indeed مُروءَةَthe honor الوَعدِof the promise النُجوزِfulfillment
We are weary of your harm, so make an end of us,
For the honor of a promise lies in its fulfillment.
