Some folk claim kinship with the rain-bearing clouds;
And mine is with māzin—the eggs of ants.
عَزَزتُI grew mighty وَزُبُّand the mass الناسِof people أَعطاكَgave you عِزَّةًmight

I grew mighty, and the mass of men gave you might;
And I have become lowly: everything overpowers me.
كَنَبتٍlike a plant ضَعيفٍfrail لَمdid not يُوازِرهُsupport it غَيرُهُanything other than it

Like a frail plant that nothing else has supported,
Whatever breeze blows, it shakes me.
