Sufis—their very name bears witness to reason
that they are woolly sheep whose butting breaks necks.

Never make honored little fillies dance;
for dancing has long been known among Mahri camels.

Nor can one tell whether their necks are gracefully supple,
on close inspection, or whether shortness has marred them.

The people feigned ecstasy out of piety, so they claimed;
and God bears witness: they did not gain as much as they lost.

May no good come to a youth whose fingertips have become
hair-combs, with braids attached to them.
