نُضَحيwe pass the morning وَنُمسيand we pass the evening كَبَنيlike the children of آدَمٍAdam
نُضَحي وَنُمسي كَبَني آدَمٍ
وَماand there is not عَلىupon الغَبراءِthe dusty earth إِلّاexcept سَفيهa fool
وَما عَلى الغَبراءِ إِلّا سَفيه
We pass our mornings and evenings like Adam’s children,
And on the dusty earth there is none but a fool.
فَنَسأَلُso we ask العالِمَthe Knowing One إِنقاذَناour deliverance
فَنَسأَلُ العالِمَ إِنقاذَنا
مِنfrom عالَمِthe world of السوءِevil الَّذيwhich نَحُنwe فيهin it
مِن عالَمِ السوءِ الَّذي نَحُن فيه
So we ask the Knowing One to deliver us
From the world of evil in which we dwell.
