مَنwhoever عاشَرَkeeps company with الناسَthe people لَمnot يُعدَمbe deprived of نِفاقَهُمُtheir hypocrisy
فَماfor—not يَفوهونَthey utter مِنany حَقٍّtruth بِتَصريحِwith frankness
Whoever keeps company with people is never without their hypocrisy.
For they speak no truth openly.
فَاِعجَبso marvel لِتَحريقِat the burning of أَهلِthe people of الهِندِIndia مَيتَهُمُtheir dead
وَذاكَand that أَروَحُmore restful مِنthan طولِthe length of التَباريحِtorments
So marvel at the people of India burning their dead;
And that is more restful than prolonged torments.
إِنif حَرَّقوهُthey burn him فَماthen—not يَخشَونَthey fear مِنof ضَبُعٍa hyena
تَسريit travels by night إِليهِto him وَلاnor خَفيٍّa grave robber وَتَطريحِand flinging aside
If they burn him, they need fear no hyena
Coming to him by night, nor a grave robber or his being flung aside.
وَالنارُand fire أَطيَبُsweeter مِنthan كافورِthe camphor of مَيِّتِناour dead
غِبّاًin the end وَأَذهَبُand more effective at dispelling لِلنَكراءِagainst foulness وَالريحِand stench
And fire is sweeter than the camphor of our dead,
In the end, and more effective against foulness and stench.
