بِخَيفَةِ اللَهِ تَعَبَّدتَنا

بِخَيفَةِ اللَهِ تَعَبَّدتَنا

وَأَنتَ عَينُ الظالِمِ اللاهي

وَأَنتَ عَينُ الظالِمِ اللاهي

Through fear of God, you have enslaved us,

Through fear of God, you have enslaved us,

though you are yourself the very heedless tyrant.

while you are the very embodiment of a heedless oppressor.

تَأمُرُنا بِالزَهدِ في هَذِهِ ال

تَأمُرُنا بِالزَهدِ في هَذِهِ ال

دُنِّيا وَما هَمُّكَ إِلّا هي

دُنِّيا وَما هَمُّكَ إِلّا هي

You command us to renounce this

You command us to practice asceticism in this

world, while it alone is all you care about.

world, yet it is your only concern.
